Billie was referred to the Polk County FEC by a friend, who recommended she participate in the FEC’s Masters Business Bootcamp to sharpen her financial skills to manage a small business.
After a few sessions with her counselor, Billie learned the dangers of hidden spending and how small purchases can add up. Her counselor “helped me see the problem with hidden spending. I am more aware of hidden spending that seems insignificant because it is small.” Through FEC financial coaching, Billie was able to be more cognizant of her business and personal expenses.
Billie’s Masters Business Bootcamp course also gave her useful tools and resources for starting and managing her small business. “The thoroughness of the Masters Business Bootcamp impressed me. I learned the foundation for a solid business launch. Most of my interaction is with my coach, Curtis, who shows a genuine interest in my business. He listens to my strategies, supports and encourages my efforts, offers relevant suggestions, and provides resources.” The support and enthusiasm Billie received from her coaches was invaluable for getting her business off the ground.
“The ongoing support is crucial as questions and issues challenge the new entrepreneur daily. I am very pleased to have the resource of the Financial Empowerment Center. For the first time, following multiple attempts to start a small business, I have solid, perpetual support.”
